RubbishGo collects ferrous and non-ferrous metal items that can be loaded and transported safely. The list below is a guide. Send photos first for full vehicles, tanks, very long sheets, fixed items or heavy machinery.
Household and Outdoor Metal
Metal bed frames, shelving, filing cabinets, bicycles, gym equipment, metal furniture, tools and barbecue bodies. Remove gas bottles before collection.
Whitegoods and Appliances
Washing machines, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, fridges, freezers and air-conditioning units. Appliances must be disconnected, and fridges or air conditioners must be identified in the quote request.
Building and Renovation Metal
Roofing iron, gutters, downpipes, reo, beams, pipes, fencing, gates, frames and metal offcuts. Show sharp edges and the longest pieces in your photos.
Workshop and Commercial Metal

Do not place hazardous, pressurised or contaminated items in the pile. Tell us if you are unsure about any container, appliance or electronic item before the collection is booked.

- Gas bottles, cylinders and fire extinguishers
- Fuel or oil containers with residue
- Chemicals, paint tins, liquid waste, medical waste or biohazardous material
- CRT televisions and old CRT computer monitors
- Sealed tanks, pressurised equipment or unidentified containers
Batteries and other e-waste must be kept out of the scrap pile. RubbishGo can collect them only when they are agreed under the correct service.

We assess the metal type, volume, weight, labour, access and any non-metal rubbish. The quote confirms what is included. RubbishGo does not quote a purchase value for scrap.
- Prepare a clear, safe route
Disconnect appliances, remove prohibited material and keep access clear. Do not cut tanks, cylinders or pressurised equipment. Tell us if cutting or dismantling may be required.
- We lift and load the agreed items
The crew collects the quoted items from the agreed accessible area. Any dismantling or extra labour must be included in the quote before work starts.
- The load goes to the right facility
Recyclable metal is taken to an appropriate facility. Mixed, contaminated or composite items may follow a different approved disposal route.

What Happens to the Scrap Metal We Collect?
Collected loads are taken to appropriate licensed recycling or disposal facilities. Metals that meet a facility’s acceptance rules can be sorted and recovered for further use. Mixed, contaminated or composite items may need another approved route.
The final destination depends on the material, contamination, item construction and the receiving facility’s rules on the day. RubbishGo follows NSW EPA guidance and uses approved facilities for collected waste.
We cannot promise that every part of every item will be recycled. Send photos if you want us to check a particular appliance, vehicle part or mixed item before booking.

Is scrap metal pick-up free, and do you pay for the metal?
No. RubbishGo provides a paid collection and removal service and does not buy scrap metal. A council service or scrap merchant may suit an eligible sorted load. RubbishGo suits jobs that need lifting, access planning, a directly agreed time or other rubbish collected with the metal.
Can you collect one item or a small amount of scrap metal?
Yes. One unwanted metal item or a small pile can be quoted. Send a photo, your suburb and access details so we can confirm the price and available time.
Do I need to move the metal to the kerb?
Not always. The crew can collect from the accessible area agreed in the quote, such as a garage, shed, backyard, workshop or loading bay. Tell us about stairs, lifts, narrow access and long carries before booking.
Do I need to sort or cut the scrap metal first?
Sorting is not required for many loads, but hazardous items and non-metal rubbish must be identified. Do not cut tanks, cylinders or pressurised equipment. If long pieces or fixed metal need cutting, send photos so we can confirm whether that work can be included.
Can you collect fridges, freezers and air conditioners?
These items may be collected when they are disconnected and listed in the quote request. Tell us exactly which appliances are included. Refrigerant-containing items can have separate handling requirements.
Can you remove a car, trailer or heavy machinery?
Car parts, trailers, caravan frames and machinery can be assessed from photos. Full vehicles and very heavy items require prior approval based on ownership, size, access, loading and transport requirements.
Can scrap metal go in the same load as other rubbish?
Often, yes. Show every item in the photos. Renovation waste, whitegoods, e-waste and general rubbish can change the price and disposal route.
Is same-day scrap metal removal available?
Same-day or next-day collection may be available. Send photos early and we will confirm the nearest open time for your suburb and load.
How is the price worked out?
The quote considers metal type, size, weight, labour, access, any agreed dismantling, non-metal waste and facility charges. RubbishGo confirms the price before loading begins.
What cannot be included in a scrap metal load?
Do not include asbestos, gas cylinders, fire extinguishers, fuel or oil residue, chemicals, paint, liquid waste, medical waste, biohazardous material or CRT screens. Batteries and other e-waste need separate approval.
Will the metal be recycled?
Recyclable metal is taken to an appropriate facility where it can be accepted and recovered. Mixed, contaminated or composite items may need another approved route, so not every part of every item can be promised for recycling.
